The Journey to the Birthplace of my Inspiration, William Shakespeare!

It was a beautiful day of February the 10th, 2016 when we finally arrived at Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William.

We've booked into a guesthouse called Salamander and were greeted by a very welcoming lady called Vivian or "Viv" as she liked to be called.

It was always my dream to be able to know more about the poet who is famous way beyond the shores of his birthplace. I've always told Jim about that dream and there before Valentine's day, he took me to Stratford. After we had settled at the guest house, we decided to roam around.

The following day, we visited William's place of birth.

We took time enjoying the place where it had all begun.

The shop which was next to the birthplace, sells varieties of memorabilia and we didn't miss the chance to get some.

The following day, we headed to Anne Hathaway's family house.

Make sure that you leave plenty of time to soak up this admirable house and grounds steeped in history.

You'll be met with a very organised and very informative guide. Listen to this: "as you walk through those corridors, it feels like you are walking through history."

When the lady, who was our guide, explained that I was probably standing on the very spot that William had stood many centuries before, it sent a tingle up my spine.

When we were roaming around Stratford, we came across the statues of the characters of  William Shakespeare's plays. You would see Hamlet, Macbeth and of course---a statue of William, himself.

Below are pictures of the Royal Shakespeare theatre where plays are performed throughout the summer.

To wrap this awesome trip up, we have stamped one of the verses from Shakespeare's script on a penny.
